Sewer backups are the call we get most from this neighborhood, and they cluster during storms rather than spreading evenly through the year. The pattern is consistent: vitrified clay laterals laid a century or more ago in short mortared sections, joints opened by ground movement and decades of root intrusion, then heavy rain infiltrating through those open joints until the line runs at capacity and the lowest fixture in the house becomes the relief point.
